THIS IS SPRING?

I wish I could say we are having a glorious Spring, but so far I haven't seen much renewal.  One of our Bradford pear trees died over the winter, but it was having trouble last summer.  The forsythias have come and gone and trees are barely beginning to leaf out.  Our reliable Phlox didn't bloom this year.  I have a feeling we are going to skip a proper Spring and launch right into Summer.  After the winter we had that's fine with me.  Remember this?.....

Over the weekend I burned some tree tops in the woods and did some clean-up around the ornamental grasses and roses.  It was a perfect day to be outdoors.  I would have stayed out all day but housework was calling my name and I gave in and did some cleaning.  It was much needed.  I realize how little I can get done with Hubby at home.  This makes me wonder what I will do when he retires!

Last week I packed away my sewing and cleaned the sewing room.  Now that the house is more or less back in order I have the urge to sew again.  The first item on my agenda will be to finish the Illusion quilt and get it ready to take to my quilter after she returns from her vacation.  I feel like a new quilter again, eager to try new things.

Hubby's recovery from hip replacement is coming along fine and he will likely be able to return to work by the end of this month.  Inactivity is bothering him.  Since he can get around pretty well he has been tending to the Girls a lot, which has been a big help to me.

I noticed there are a few new followers and I would like to welcome you with open arms.  Lately my blogging has been spotty, but life gets in the way at times.  I love it when you leave comments.  Thanks to everyone who leaves comments nearly every time!

Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday wherever you are.

  1. I'll leave you a comment!! I don't often remember to check in here but love reading what you've been doing. A couple things - if you're concerned about what is going to happen once Jeff returns you should run up here sometime and check Al out. He does things like rearrange the kitchen, starts the dishwasher when I know I'm going to be needing it in just a few . . . you get the picture. He's being helpful!! Not. And you are more than welcome to come help me do winter clean up. I've planned it but I wait until they predict some rain before I make my plans. That way it isn't getting done.
