I have written here about setting personal and quilting goals for 2013. All of that is well and good, but can someone give me a shot of ambition so I can get going! Sometimes I think I just have too much of a good thing that it becomes difficult to focus and get started. Oh, I'm certainly not complaining ~~ just thinking out loud. When you get to a certain age you have be careful about thinking (or talking to yourself) out loud!!
Have you started working on your 2013 projects or are you finishing up some of your 2012 (or before) projects that are haunting you? I wish I was the type of sewer that can begin and finish a project before even thinking about the next one. I thought giving my sewing space a good clean and putting everything in order would be what I need to get sewing, but all I've done so far this year is to buy more fabric for more projects.
It has been about a week since I have been able to post pictures here due to a glitch with Internet Explorer and Blogger. My wonderful daughter found a way for me to work around that glitch until it is resolved.

The name of this pattern is Feathers and it uses strip and template piecing. The fabrics are glorious and I can't wait to see what kind of feathers they make!
Some quilters are afraid of bold prints, but when prints are cut into small segments they take on a whole new look. Maybe next week I can get started. Until then I'll be rattling around here thinking out loud!

ReplyDeleteOh that's going to be gorgeous! I can't wait to see what you do with it. I too have had a hard time getting motivated. It sounds good, it looks good, I just can't seem to move toward it and make it happen. I go in my sewing room and just fiddle around without getting anything done. I laid out about 5 patterns and the fabric and they are still staring at me. If you figure out the solution please let me know.

Today I got up determined to kicked myself in the you know what and clean the house. Got put off while I have been so busy working on Bonnie Hunter's Easy Street Mystery Quilt a-long (almost 2 months)! There comes a time when I thought out-loud haha These strings are making children during the night, but worried one of my 4 pawed kids would lick one by accident. After that was done, you would think I was done for the day, but it helped! I got another push to get back into the sewing room and finish a quilts sashes that I began Before Easy Street. Done... Tonight I'll cut borders out and 2 will be ready for sandwiches. It got cold here today, so when it's too cold to go out shopping for new that helped me get motivated. I also had fabric arrive by UPS, and realized I've NO room in my sewing room for it -- it's hiding in the master closet until I reorganize. That also helped me stop thinking of what's next, change my talking out loud (err "thinking"... What can I get finish and get off my tables and out the door. Hope that helps someone :-)

ReplyDeleteMy LQS has a meet and greet for machine quilters today, so I will check that out before coming back home to sandwich my daughter's Christmas lap quilt today. Yes, it will be a belated gift, and my aim is to finish it before January is over. As a beginning quilter I've had a few starts and stops. ;) I have purchased several precut bundles that I like, so I have potential quilts in my stash. Deciding on patterns is the hardest thing!
I am new, and found your Blog via Jeanne. I am also a new quilter, but will confess here (as long as you don't tell anyone else, LOL) that I already suffer from the 'which project shall I start next' even before I have completed the one I am working on. I guess there is no cure?
